Kenapa Bunda suka buku-buku bu Jacqueline Wilson? Bukunya cewek banget. Hehehe...
Gaya bu JW agak mirip lah dengan gaya bu Ono Eriko dalam menyampaikan cerita. Bedanya, kalo bu Ono kan pake komik, kalo bu JW pake cerita dalam bentuk novel.

Bad Girls ini tentang apa, Bun?

Ada gadis bernama Mandy White yang selalu jadi sasaran empuk bullying teman sekelasnya, Kim. Nggak hanya itu, Kim bersekongkol dengan Melanie, yang dulu pernah jadi sahabat karib Mandy dalam bullying ini.

Suatu ketika, Mandy tidak melihat jalan dan dia tertabrak bus. Hal ini membuat ibunya protes pada gurunya, bullying sudah membuat Mandy celaka.

Di saat masa istirahat pemulihan dari kecelakaan itu, Mandy kenalan dengan gadis berpenampilan aneh, bernama Tanya, yang ternyata usianya nggak terlalu jauh. Yah, keliatannya, Tanya bukan gadis baik-baik kalo dari penampilannya.

Setelah berakrab ria dengan Tanya, ibu Mandy justru resah. Pertama, karena ibu Mandy tidak suka penampilan Tanya, berikutnya, karena Tanya nggak jelas latar belakangnya. Ibu Mandy khawatir kalo Tanya justru akan memberi pengaruh pada Mandy yang cerdas.

Dan memang, sih, ada beberapa perilaku Tanya yang justru melibatkan Mandy dalam masalah. Hanya saja, itu tidak membuat rasa sayang Mandy terhadap Tanya luntur, karena Tanya-lah yang tulus padanya.

So far, ceritanya begitu seru dan menakjubkan. Banyak kejutan yang nggak Bunda sangka ada di dalam cerita ini. Bullying, apapun bentuknya, bukanlah perbuatan baik dan menyenangkan.

Bunda mau kutip kalimat yang diucapkan guru kelas enam Mandy, Miss Moseley, ketika mereka membuat lingkaran di kelas, membahas bullying.

"And I think we have to try to work out why people bully. Then we can maybe stop it before it gets too much of a habit. So. Why do you think people bully?"

"Are bullies happy people?"

"Think about when you're very very happy. Say it's your birthday and all your family and friends have given you a big hug and some lovely presents and you feel really great. Now, do you want to hurt anyone when you're in that short of situation?"
"Of course not, you just want to be nice to people. But suppose you've had a really bad day and got into trouble at school and your friends got off with someone else and your mum and dad are cross and they've given you little sister a treat and yet they just tell you off... Do you want to be nice to people now? Or do you feel like being nasty?"

"No-one ever asks to be bullied. But you're right, sometimes people get bullied because they're stupid. Though that's not a very kind word. People can't help it if they're not very bright. And that's a terrible reason for bullying someone, just because they're not clever."

"And other times someone can get bullied because they're ever so clever. Say they come top of the class and the bully doesn't like it because they're clever too and they want to be top."

"The big baboon screams a lot and bites all the little ones. All the other big baboons copy, screeching and scratching for fleas. Now, no-one here in my class wants to act like a bully baboon with a bright red bottom, do they?"

Nah. Kalo Kakak Ilman dan Adik Zidan menjadi saksi bullying, laporkan. Kalo kalian juga jadi korban bullying, ngomong ke Bunda atau Papa, ya... Kita harus hentikan semua bentuk bullying. Bunda pengen kalian berdua tahu, Bunda akan memerangi semua bentuk bullying...
